Primary Responsibilities:
Validate and confirm trade details between our internal system and counterparty trade recaps to ensure accuracy and completeness.Reconcile trade discrepancies and resolve issues promptly to maintain data integrity.Collaborate with front office, middle office and back office teams to ensure seamless trade processing.Monitor and report on trade validation and confirmation metrics and performance indicators.Ensure timely and accurate delivery of trade confirmations to counterparties.Maintain and update trade confirmation tracker and documentation.Ensure the accurate and timely settlement of trades across various financial instruments.Performs checks on some information that are vital to settlement. (ie. standard settlement instructions)Responsible for pre-settlement and post-settlement investigations and dispute resolutions using Markit and Signed Confirmations. Resolution may include amendment of possible system set-up errors.Coordinate with brokers, custodians, and counterparties to resolve settlement issues and discrepancies.Works closely with the Business Unit and the other local and offshore teams to ensure all breaks are cleared and reconciled. This also involves communication the with IT team for failed/delayed workflows and tasks.Assists the Business Unit in performing and providing monthly and quarterly reports and reconciliations provided to the other internal teams and stakeholders.Maintains a good relationship with the brokers and counterparties by making sure all SLA’s (daily bank/broker cut-offs) are met.Assists in testing process improvements and projects involving Settlements and other Derivative Operations functions.Coordinates with the Accounting team in the resolution of suspense breaks for the periods covered in the reconciliation and assists the Business unit in collating supports and files for the yearly audit requirements.Process internal ad hoc requests from various groups in a timely and efficient mannerUpdate or create new process documents for all tasks relevant to the position and maintain internal database of all process documentsPropose improvements to current processes that will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the groupContribute to the gathering of data for quarterly metrics reporting to senior managementComplete daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting duties in a timely mannerContribute to the capacity and depth of Global Derivatives Services in order to respond to the organization’s current and future derivative demands.Additional Responsibilities include:
Ensures the team is operating under the strongest control environment and that tasks are completed within procedures and controls, including the usage of proper escalation protocols.Work closely with management to implement business strategy.Strong contributions in projects, new initiatives, and technology developmentKnowledge/Skills/Competencies/Education:
College / University graduate (preferably Math, Business, Finance or related fields) with minimum 2 to 3 years' work experience in Banking, Finance and/or Investments fieldBasic knowledge of financial markets and the language and terminology used in Investment ManagementPossesses an understanding of the post trade process including trade allocation, matching, confirmation, and reconciliation for financial productsFamiliarity with MS Office suite and knowledgeable of MS office.Solid organizational skills and a high degree of professionalism combined with the ability to readily adapt to rapidly changing environments and deal with competing priorities.Demonstrated ability to work in an environment where procedures and controls are requiredStrong computer skills, with ability to learn and easily adapt to new application.High level of accuracy, and ability to analyze complex trade data and identify discrepancies.Proactively identify issues and develop solutions.Client focused with the ability to understand the requirements of clientsMust have the ability to create and maintain strong relationships with people at all levels and different functions throughout the organization and with external partnersQuick learner and solutions oriented, ability to escalate issues to managementAbility to react quickly and meet tight deadlines maintaining accuracy and thoroughnessExcellent English skills, both oral and written, with strong comprehension skills to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholdersDemonstrate initiative and team playerAbility to adapt to changes, and set prioritiesAt Manulife/John Hancock, we embrace our diversity.
