DES Engr Discrete event simulation

Position Purpose

DES engineers are responsible for creating and administering discrete event simulation models to assist in the design, development, and launch of manufacturing facilities and processes within  Powertrain Operations. This is achieved by developing New Program Simulation, Total Plant Simulation, Department Simulation, Special Simulation request in line

with Launch milestone by using DES Tools & Techniques.

Selection Criteria

Good proficiencies and hands on Experience is must in the software package – Plant Simulation ONLY Basic coding skills (like Object oriented programming language such as Visual logic, C, C++) Professional Knowledge and strong Skills on: Discrete Event Simulation /Programming /Auto CAD /MS Office Read & Analyze process flow diagram Strong Logic build ability.  Data analytics & Interpretation skills Ability to work independently when required Excellent Communication, Customer relation skills as well as ability to work with a diverse team Candidate should be flexible to work in shift, if necessary.

Education Qualification            : B.E / BTech / PG in – Industrial /Mechanical /Production/ Electrical Engineering

Number of Years of Experience   : 5-8 years of relevant experience in similar domain.

Position Responsibilities

Functional:

Build, Run and Validate throughput simulation models. Proficiency in  Plant Simulation – SIEMENS TECHNOMATICS Software packages Understand the Throughput simulation procedures and implement the same. Preparation of Input File / Intermediate summary files / Final Presentations etc. Collaborate with process owners (BoP Owners/ Program teams) for input collection and compile and review the results Perform Throughput simulations both in FIS as well as in the throughput models Extract and construct large FIS and quality data sets for every asset as inputs to simulation Validate model against actual system performance as captured in FIS data. Identify bottle necks (Constraints) Quantify throughput losses Identify opportunities to improve system performance. Iteratively run experiments to quantify gains from optimization opportunities to the point of diminishing returns Collaborate with teams for continuous improvements. Analyze simulation results and communicate opportunities (Cost avoidance/ Investment efficiency/ JPH Increase) to the team. Gain Alignment of complete throughput simulation with working level alignment with peers to find the optimized solutions and provide awareness to team. Perform “What if” scenarios as required based on study requests and optimize manufacturing processes. Material flow Analysis. Perform overall flow map of products through the facility. Produce aisle heat map for trips per hour for each aisle way Optimize Material flow and collaborate with the proper personnel to facilitate those optimization opportunities. Provide data to the team for PMHV planning. Provide data to industrial engineer for labor planning Calculate the utilization of the point of fit (PoF) docks. Create a static pedestrian safety analysis using an excel spreadsheet. Collaborate on the shift scheduling projects to assist in reducing inventories.
