Design Authority Deputy – I&C
The Design Authority Deputy – I&C reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Design Authority and is a position focused on technical oversight of the Natrium design with a focus on the area of I&C/Electrical. The Deputy represents the Design Authority across all areas of the Natrium project. In this role you will provide leadership, guidance, mentorship, creative and technical oversight to multiple teams to ensure a high level of strategic integration. The Deputy will provide overall strategic direction for the department and for the Natrium project, including partner design organizations.
Responsibilities
Provide technical oversight to the Natrium design teams with a focus on the areas of I&C and Electrical design, analysis, testing, and procurement. Work in collaboration with the project organization on technical issues and risks that are important to the success of Natrium. Proactively set technical strategies in partnership with the project organization management and TerraPower leadership. Provide technical expertise to aid in resolution of technical differences of opinion. Represent the Design Authority in the technical decision-making and design change control processes. Approve highly cross-functional deliverables. Provide oversight of key design programs associated with I&C and work in collaboration with the design programs team and the project organization to ensure their successful implementation. Establish and maintain network of subject matter experts to support the Design Authority mission. Provide overall strategic direction and goals for the department. Interface with other Design Authority senior leaders on resource utilization, administrative and technical matters. Ensure compliance with engineering procedures and training. Support licensing activities associated with the department. Coordinate and lead planning efforts and maintain schedule. Support business development activities. Develop department specific operating procedures/processes.
Key Qualifications and Skills
B.S. or higher in relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university and 20+ years direct experience in the commercial nuclear power industry. Experience in I&C/Electrical for new plant design efforts, especially implementation of the Licensing Modernization Project (LMP, NEI 18-04) framework. Experience in regulatory frameworks, NRC interactions/audits, and licensing activities for I&C/Electrical, especially topical report preparation. Experience leading analysis teams that interface with Safety Analysis and PRA to successfully resolve issues. Advanced knowledge and experience in nuclear programmatic buildout, design control, and configuration management principles, practices, and tools. Experience working to ASME NQA-1 and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B programs. Willing and able to mentor and train junior and mid-career team members. The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, able to communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.

Salary Range Level 14: $213,397 - $289,401
*Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 – 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary bands. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
