Compensation range: $84,000 - $90,000/Annually

Location: South Seattle, WA (hybrid in-office)

Hours:  Day shift, Monday - Friday

 

This is a career level Design Consultant position. Works both independently and collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop creative interior space solutions to meet customer needs.  Includes a high degree of customer engagement, creative decision making, non-linear decision making and autonomous project ownership. Responsible for design discovery, co-creation, design validation and documentation. Involved in design projects and related tasks from inception to final installation.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Distill and analyze project information.

• Conduct product research and contact vendors for pricing and information.

• Engage with customer to gather project information (surveys, interviews, data collection, observations) and to uncover customer challenges.

• Facilitate design discovery and co-creation sessions with project stakeholders.

• Assist with creative engagements and workshops.

• Engage in creative problem solving.

• Perform field measurements and inventory product.

• Specify furniture and finishes required per final layouts.

• Produce and present design concepts to customers.

• Validate design concepts and finalize design development.

• Generate, organize, and maintain CAD/CET files.

• Produce furniture block plans, space plans, finish palettes, furniture specification, and installation drawings; create, revise, and plot design drawings.

• Develop validation packages and spreadsheets.

• Estimate budgetary hours and manage and monitor project hours.

• Prepare design budgets and design proposals.

• Responsible for individual tasks and duties as well as overall project results and outcomes, including shaping the customer experience.

• React to customer needs and expectations in developing working relationships.

• Attend industry events and peer networking opportunities.

• Membership in industry professional organizations recommended.

• Serve as a mentor for other designers.

• Assist in the on-boarding process.

• Track and manage time entries daily.

• Professional knowledge of commercial furniture products and systems furnishings.

• Professional knowledge of ancillary, furnishings, and décor.

• Professional proficiency in a variety of software: AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office. CET Designer, Adobe Photoshop, Revit, and InDesign desired.

• Professional ability to apply Interior Design principles, to include texture, color, form, function, materiality balance, rhythm, repetition, proximity, symmetry, biophilia, cognition and perception.

• Professional understanding of building codes, regulations, ADA.

• Ability to apply commercial furniture products and systems furnishings.

• Ability to draw/sketch by hand.

• Exceptional customer service skills with ability to provide solutions to client needs.

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color perception, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Regularly works with others face to face, over the phone and email in an office environment with moderate noise.  Nature of work may require time spent out of the office; reliable transportation required.  Periodically works outside and may work around moving objects, dust, and dirt.  Must be able to climb up into and down from delivery trucks and walk up and down ramps where required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

·        Bachelor’s Degree in Interior or Architectural Design, Associate Art’s degree or equivalent from a two year college will be considered, with at least 5-years related design experience.

·        Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) or National Architecture Board (NAB) accreditation preferred.

·        Prior experience with system furniture products a plus.

·        One or more professional certifications encouraged: NCIDQ, CID, LEED AP, WELL AP, EDAC, 6 Sigma, PMI, etc.
