Design Engineer 1

Job Summary: ​

DENSO is looking for a Design Engineer who will manage mass production tooling. Support all DENSO North America Thermal groups with Engineering Change Mold Designs, Technical troubleshooting, Kaizen Improvements. The Design Engineer will be a part of a team responsible for preparing and managing all mass production mold modifications.​

Roles and Responsibilities: ​

Mass Production Tooling Management – Management of all mass production injection molds in North America and responsible for the following​ Plan, Design, and Manage Engineering Changes from Release to Final Approval.​ Investigate Quality and Production Ratio issues and implement countermeasures.​ Investigate Mold breaks and issue repair countermeasures.​ Mold Simulation ​ Work with Product Design to develop gate locations and flow leaders for balanced fill.​ Investigate mold cooling capacity and design solutions to improve cooling utilizing additive manufacturing.​ Investigate warpage issues and design solutions for quality issues utilizing counter-warp or adding features to stop warpage.​ Design for Manufacturing​ Support New Product Introduction group for identifying product shape for mold feasibility​ Develop Mold layout plan for family molds with slide/action layout​ Participate in Mold design reviews for locally made tooling.​ New mold monitoring for in-house made tooling​ Complete mold design​ Tooling and product evaluation validation​ Development of mold adjustment requirements and plan​ Product quality evaluation.​ New mold approval for mass production.​ Provide Technical troubleshooting of Injection Mold & Production Equipment related issues​ Lead cross-functional team kaizen activities (e.g. improvements in productivity, quality, safety, and others).​ Development of Mold & Die Engineering Systems & Improvements​ Implementation of DENSO (TAC) Mold & Die Engineering Standard Introduction of new concepts and technology for tooling​ Provide input for department KPIs/G&Os and budget planning.​

Required Qualifications: ​

0-2 years of experience in mold design and tooling project management.​ Bachelor degree in engineering.​ Good communication skills.​

Preferred Qualifications: ​

5 years of experience in mold design and tooling project management.​ Work experience in injection mold design and molding processes.​ Experience with 3D CAD and Microsoft Office.​ Work experience in project management.​ Highly motivated and technically competent.​ Innovative problem solver.​

Salary Range: $63,900-$80,000
