The below is a position with ASPEQ Heating Group. ASPEQ Heating Group is a marketplace leader in innovative electric heating solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial markets. With a portfolio that includes baseboard, wall, unit and infrared heaters as well as ceiling fans and air circulators, we create simplified heating solutions for our complex work.

 

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Design Engineer will be responsible for preparing detailed drawings, wiring schematics, and technical documentation for the manufacturing of industrial and commercial electrical heating equipment. This role involves producing routings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing instructions for complex products. The engineer will work closely with the product development team on design and process improvement projects, providing technical assistance to design engineers, technicians, and shop floor personnel as needed. The role also supports the sales department in preparing customer quotes and collaborates with manufacturing, purchasing, and sales teams to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and efficiently.

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

1. Design and Documentation:

Prepare detailed drawings and wiring schematics for parts to be manufactured. Produce routings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing instructions for complex products.

 

2. Collaboration and Support: 

Work closely with the product development department on various design and process improvement projects. Provide technical assistance to other design engineers, design technicians, and shop floor personnel as required. Offer support to the sales department in the preparation of customer quotes. Support the manufacturing, purchasing, and sales departments to ensure the efficient fulfillment of customer orders.

 

3.  Cross-Department Coordination:

Collaborate with the manufacturing, purchasing, and sales departments to support and ensure the successful completion of customer orders.

 

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

Proficiency in the latest versions of 3D modeling software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Word. Ability to read, interpret, and design to UL, CSA, and FM safety standards. Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and heating principles.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience in preparing technical drawings, wiring schematics, and manufacturing documentation. Professional Skills: Must have outstanding oral and written communication.  To be able to speak with internal and external associates in a professional, understandable, and effective manner.

 

Education & Certifications

4 years engineering degree or equivalent experience, or a combination of education and experience.

 

Travel & Working Environment

Requires travel to the production facilities and on rare occasions to customer sites. Must be able to use a computer, provide oral and written communication, travel to all facilities.  Work in a standard office environment, and complete tasks as required in a production (plant) environment.  Must be able to lift packages up to 30 lbs.
