Job Title: Design EngineerJob Description Designs products that meet the specifications established by management with optimum manufacturability and minimal risk. Works with Manufacturing to come up with methods to take product all the way through the manufacturing process. Programs engineering-related software to work with customer inputs for manufacturing purposes. Controls internal and customer-supplied drawings, specifications, and other engineering-related documents. Responsibilities + Design products that meet specifications established by management. + Collaborate with Manufacturing to develop methods for the complete manufacturing process. + Program engineering software to work with customer inputs for manufacturing. + Control internal and customer-supplied drawings, specifications, and other engineering-related documents. + Assess stress calculations, soundness of design, manufacturability, and risk. + Troubleshoot installation issues with all manufactured products. + Understand automation and product configuration. + Manage projects effectively. Essential Skills + Experience with SolidWorks design. + Ability to assess stress calculations, soundness of design, manufacturability, and risk. + Experience with process improvement and analysis. + Ability to troubleshoot installation issues with manufactured products. + Understanding of automation and product configuration. + Project management skills. + Proficiency in SQL, Driveworks, and variable-driven design. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or a minimum of five years of experience in engineering or another appropriate field. + Commitment to continuing education through courses and trainings annually. + Reimbursement options available for further education. Work Environment The work environment characteristics include frequently working near moving mechanical parts and an environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud. The physical demands require regularly sitting, using hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, talking or hearing, and occasionally walking or standing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, or crawling. The employee must also be able to reach with arms and lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The role involves spending 10-15% of the time on the floor with shop personnel and 85% at a desk.
