Railroads, Oil / Gas, Building Supply / Construction, Forestry and more. **SUMMARY** Design mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic systems for truck mounted equipment that meet the applicable standards and to perform the following duties. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** : Other duties may be assigned. + Design and analyze mechanical structures and components, electrical and hydraulic systems. + Design based on applicable regulations and industry standards. + Document designs using 3D solid (SolidWorks) and 2D drafting software (AutoCAD). + Evaluate weight and balance issues for road worthiness and crane stability. + Develop sources for required hardware and systems. + Create sales support drawings. + Analyze product failures, develop repairs and redesign accordingly. + Assist Manufacturing Engineering with development of work orders. + Assist Production with floor-level decision making, development of work processes and tools. + Maintain revision control on drawings and other controlled documents by utilizing PDM and ECO processes. + Document and communicate modifications to purchased devices (e.g. cranes, aerial devices, etc.) with manufacturer. + Conduct and/or source the supervision of testing of components and/or complete vehicles when required. + Generate manuals for designed equipment as required. + Utilize the Engineering Change process and Product Data Management system to control documents. **CERTIFICATES:** + Fluid Power Certification – Desired but not required. **QUALIFICATIONS:** + Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Agricultural or Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology + Or 5 years of applicable experience in an engineering capacity. + Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. + Possess the ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization. **DESIED:** + Design software – 3D and 2D (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred). + Microsoft Office – Proficient in Excel and Word. + Experience with hydraulically powered mobile equipment, on or off-road vehicles, assembly and manufacturing processes. + Highly detail oriented and organized in work.
