Job Description
The Mechanical Design Engineer collaborates with Project Managers, Application Engineers, and the Production Team to create detailed systems and equipment layouts and drawings. The technical documentation must be prepared to ensure adherence to established specifications, industrial standards, and scope of works.
ResponsibilitiesCreate top-level system layouts utilizing buyout equipment.Create system and equipment installation drawings.Develop assembly drawings with bills of materials and related part drawings for fabrication.Prepare approval drawings for internal reviews and customer reviews.Serve as a resource for new product development and existing equipment improvements.Assist with manufacturing instructions and O&M documentation.Continuously collaborate with the production team during design and equipment assembly phases.Resolve design inquiries from manufacturing or project managers in a timely and resourceful manner.Follow company standards and regulations related to Health and Safety.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including special projects.Essential SkillsProficient with Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD program and Vault.Strong understanding of parts fabrication, equipment assembly, and manufacturing processes.General knowledge in engineering terminology, materials, and drafting standards.Attention to detail to ensure plans are technically accurate.Effective interpersonal skills for collaboration with engineers and designers.Strong time-management skills to meet deadlines efficiently.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering.Preferred 2+ years of experience in material handling systems and general mechanical design.3-5 years of experience in parts fabrication and machine assembly.Work Environment
This is a full-time position with typical work hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. The role primarily operates in a professional office environment, routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, mandatory hearing protection, and safety footwear. Travel is primarily local, with approximately 10% out-of-area travel expected.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.87/hr.
