Design Engineer - Electromechanical

This role will support engineering design and development activities.Responsibilities:Lead and support the engineering activities for large scale product development programs by investigating feasibility, performing design using 3-D modeling software, conduct layout review and 2D drawing creation. Analyze and resolve complex problems independently or with minimal guidance.  Create part specification requirements and BOM. Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers.  Perform cost analysis, strength calculations and material selection.  Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes.  Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs Travel to client sites required.RequirementsMinimum Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years industry experience developing Electromechanical systems Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechatronics, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.Experience using 3-D modeling software Solidworks is required and good to have  CATIA V5 or V6 skills.Experience in Medical / Automotive domain developing and designing various electromechanical systems  is required.Strong understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) for plastics and sheet metal components is required.Ability to identify components and evaluate technical requirements considering packaging, DFM and costs at a system level is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in MS office.Preferred Skills:Physical Demands:    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
