Summary

Hands-on internship on the Kenworth Chillicothe Design Engineering team with a focus on product design improvements, project implementation, prototype support, and support of other factory department goals.


Job Functions / Responsibilities

Proactive approach to defining issues and reaching early resolution and consensus Provides engineering advice for specific design or installation problems encountered in manufacturing Interacts with Division Engineering, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials, and Quality Assurance to develop design improvements throughout various chassis systems and implementing new engineering projects Runs prototype trials prior to project implementation. Supports kaizen, six sigma projects, warranty reduction, and quality improvement projects by providing appropriate engineering representation Perform other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications & Skills

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Progression towards degree in related engineering field Demonstrated ability to understand complex tasks Excellent communication skills Demonstrated ability to organize and manage projects and prototypes. Must be able to read and use engineering drawings/schematics Proficient in all applications within the Microsoft Office suite Experience with Pro/Engineer or other 3D modeling software Must be a Junior/Senior level student Other duties as assigned

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Truck or automotive experience with demonstrated understanding of mechanical and electrical devices and manufacturing processes Understanding of the product development cycle EIT
