Design Engineer IV - Mechanical Equipment
At Fluor, we design and build some of the world’s largest and most exciting capital projects, working in a collaborative team environment. This position is with the Mechanical Equipment team. We are responsible for all the process mechanical equipment on a project, from concept through installation and commissioning. We serve clients all around the world and across numerous industries.

• Life Sciences – Drug substances and Drug products, Blood Fractionation processes and Vaccines
• Advanced Technology – Semiconductor, Smart Batteries, and Datacenters
• Advanced Manufacturing – Carbon Fiber production, Foods (Sugar, Potato Chips), Consumer Goods, Sustainability projects, and Rare Earth Minerals production to name a few

Job Description
The ideal candidate for this position would be capable of severing in the following positions: As an Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects or under an Area Lead or Lead as a Responsible Engineer (RE) handling highly complex, large equipment packages performing complex to difficult engineering assignments.

Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities
LEAD or AREA LEAD
• Manage a team of approximately twelve (12) mechanical engineers on a project
• Capability to manage/coordinate teams in other offices, domestic and international
• Coordinate work assignments and deliverables of mechanical team members
• Develop and review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline
documents for all phases of projects
• Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including manpower forecasts
• Develop and update job execution plans
• Review and approve vendor lists, quotation requests/bid tabulations/purchase orders
and review substitutions for technical acceptability
• Identify deviations in job scope, estimate magnitude of changes, and initiate trends or change
orders
• Support proposal and estimate activities
• Participate in discipline quality audits
• Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards
• Adhere to and support Fluor’s Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
• Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying
complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
• Participate in people development through mentoring, development of training material,
conducting training seminars, and performance appraisal input and counseling

RESPONSIBLE ENGINEER
• Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of complex to difficult
engineering complexity
• Manage the engineering and procurement activities for large highly complex equipment packages.
• Establish and lead the squad check effort for vendor equipment documentation for assigned
equipment
• Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for
compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution
• Provide consultation and/or on-site assistance for the installation, commissioning, and/or start
up of equipment
• Plan and organize your own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management
staff
• May need to travel to attend to business related matters
• Other duties as assigned
