Design Engineer - Power Distribution

Join an organization that ensures a more secure world through connecting and protecting our customers with inventive electrical solutions. **WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:** + Apply professional engineering techniques to design and manufacture products at the lowest overall cost and enhance product value to the customer by either Project, Product or Value Engineering. + Provide engineering design and analysis within assigned project scope of work. This includes conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, specification development, and engineering drawings. Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control for the engineering scope of work. + Work on problems of moderate scope within defined processes and systems to determine appropriate action. + Use advanced software such as Navisworks, Smart Plant, AutoCAD and our in-house programs TRACERLYNX and PROMAN to optimize our design process. + Perform various engineering and circuit design tasks within our innovative paperless workflow process. + Contribute toward the team environment and shared culture of nVent. + Specific practical knowledge in standard processes and systems. + Experience used to troubleshoot and improve processes within learned activities. Analysis and solution proposition of defined problems. + Understand customer needs in making day-to-day decisions and occasionally provide feedback on changes in customer requirements. **YOU HAVE:** + An undergraduate Engineering degree or Technologist Diploma from an accredited university or College. + Registered, or in training, to be a Professional Engineer (APEGA) or Professional Technologist (ASET). + 2+ years of experience required. EHT design experience preferred. + Experience working with 3D Piping Models, AutoCAD, Single Line Diagrams, Power and Control Cable Schedules, Wiring Diagrams and Panelboard Schedules. + Be able to interpret various drawing types, including piping isometrics, Line Designation Tables (LDTs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), General Arrangement drawings (GAs), and area classification drawings. + Possess solid time management skills. **WE HAVE:** + A dynamic global reach with diverse operations around the world that will stretch your abilities, provide plentiful career opportunities, and allow you to make an impact every day + At nVent, we believe safer systems ensure a more secure world.
