If you are an experienced DESIGN ENGINEER looking for a chance to grow, Copeland has an opportunity for you! Based in our Sidney, OH office, supporting our Climate Technologies Division. The Design Engineer/Senior Design Engineer will support NPD projects within the Commercial Air conditioning group. As a Design Engineer, you will have a high responsibility for engineering design, technical modeling, and analysis, including technical calculations and analysis, preparation or CAD/CAE models, detail and assembly drawings, design layouts (product BOM), tolerance application, and leading design of new development products. This role will also include team leadership, peer mentoring, and responsibility for technological analysis, priority planning, problem-solving, and delivery of quality design outputs.
As a Design/Senior Design Engineer, You Will:
Apply basic and advanced mechanical sciences to perform design analysis of products and components, including static/dynamic analysis, the strength of materials, material selection, and design optimization.
Utilize state-of-the-art design technologies, computational systems, design standards, and rapid prototype methodologies.
Establish and document component and assembly specifications, including the definition of required geometry, materials, allowable tolerances, and related manufacturing processes.
Lead project teams to develop and document designs as well as specifications that meet the requirements of the product performance and program charter.
Create and verify the accuracy and consistency of engineering drawings and CAD/CAE models in accordance with corporate engineering standards and ASME14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance requirements.
Create, direct, and review advanced design layouts of compressor assemblies, sub-systems, and components to establish spatial requirements, fit-up, and relationship of components to ensure the functionality of design intent.
Verify design intent by checking proper fit-up of components using CAD and tolerance stack-up analysis methods.
Produce and utilize engineering calculations and operate computer programs to support design analysis and engineering efforts, including spreadsheets and internet resources.
Provide support to engineering labs, manufacturing facilities, Supplier Quality, Procurement. and Advanced Manufacturing
Lead design efforts in global collaboration with peer engineering facilities to develop product designs jointly, promote consistent design practices, and check global design project elements to ensure the project’s design intent.
Perform as team leader and peer mentor to facilitate the development and advancement of the engineering group.
Required Education, Experience & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 1-2 years design experience with rotating machinery or relevant industry experience. (co-op experience will be considered).
Experience producing CAD models for design layouts, assemblies, sub-assemblies and components as well as technical drawings for prototype and production components.
Experience with 3D CAD software such as Siemens NX9.0, SolidWorks or Pro/E.

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills:
Five plus years relevant experience
FEA, CFD or other analysis.
Proven track record of innovative and patentable ideas
Knowledge of common manufacturing processes and techniques used to produce high volume production components
Knowledge of common processes used in producing prototype components and fixtures
Knowledge and experience within HVAC Industry.
Experience using Teamcenter database software

This role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to two days a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm.
