The Design Leader will play a key role in increasing the presence of Walter P Moore's Enclosure Engineering Practice on the West Coast with a priority on winning work both regionally and nationally. The candidate must have a technical background and experience delivering enclosure engineering services with their own network of architects and owners.
The Design Leader role is an outward facing role and the Design Leader will focus on business development and design leadership supporting the Managing Director who is focused on operations. Roughly sixty (60%) of the Design Leader's time will be focused on winning work with twenty (20%) of their time allocated to billable project work. While not expected to manage projects the Design Leader will engage at a high level in early project stages and hold relationship responsibility for key clients.
The Design Leader will work alongside the Practice Area Leader and the firm's dedicated Business Development Leaders on business development and design efforts. The Design Leader will familiarize themselves with the Enclosure Engineering team's ten year history and the wider 90+ year history of the wider company. These responsibilities will include the following essential functions.
Assists the Managing Directors, Focus Market Leaders and business development leaders in developing, communicating, and implementing the business development plan for the regionManages projects assuring that all production, quality, and budgetary objectives are metPerforms difficult and/or critical project stepSupervises and develops direct reports and other personnel including engineers, designers, and modelersPromotes our ECX by building effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer’s expectationsPerforms Other Functions as Needed
The candidate will be eligible for equity as a Principal in accordance with WPM guidelines and policy.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering or Architecture Master’s degree preferredExperience with Revit, Tekla, SAP2000, ETABS, Rhino, and/or Grasshopper a plusRelevant experience working on the design of office buildings, commercial, sports, aviation, healthcare, education, and cultural buildings with construction costs of $25 million and14+ minimum prior years ofexperiencePE required or AIA registered (RA preferred)Excellent written and verbal communicationStrong organizational skillsDemonstrated ability to engage individuals and teams to complete tasks or projects

The actual offered salary will be dependent on the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, geographic location, industry experience and internal equity.
