The Role
This role is on the Experience Design (XD) Discovery + Foundations team. The team is responsible for designing the core member experience worldwide and creating personalized entertainment experiences that help members discover and connect with the content they love.
This role supports the Member Experience product teams, which strive to make finding the right title on Netflix intuitive and compelling with relevant recommendations tailored to members’ needs. The domain focus is personalized experiences and creating elegantly simple solutions to complex problems related to areas like identity, preferences and evidence systems.
This role can be hybrid but would be best for candidates located in California or in the Pacific time zone, as monthly in-person travel will be required to collaborate with stakeholders and partners in Los Angeles, CA and Los Gatos, CA.
About You
You are a Product Design Manager with exceptional design, communication and people management skills. As a leader, you will lead and manage teams to ensure our products and features are valuable for our members, easy to use, and of the highest level of craft and execution. You'll be a foundational member of the leadership team, working together with your partners in product, engineering, data science, consumer insights, content design, and other disciplines to define the strategy, operations and communications that guide the team to build great products addressing real user needs.
You measure success in terms of both human and business impact. You foster excellence through collaboration and encourage an inclusive, open environment that makes space for different perspectives and work styles. You inspire creativity and you’re an excellent advocate, evangelist, and listener who seeks and offers candid, constructive feedback.
What You’ll Do
+ Manage and build a diverse, inclusive team of Senior Product Designers that consistently delivers impactful human-centered experiences that meet user needs and business goals.
+ Coach and mentor team performance, manage resource allocation, project prioritization, and cultivate a culture of design excellence.
+ Keep your teams inspired and engaged by providing strategic clarity, direction and focus while identifying and unblocking barriers to success.
+ Champion the design thinking philosophy across the org and be an advocate for user-centered design and systems thinking to drive innovation at scale.
+ Utilize your full range of people management skills, product strategy, product design, interaction design and visual design skills.
+ Introduce new user-centered methodologies, frameworks and thought leadership to help your team facilitate strategic alignment across the organization.
+ Contribute to strategic decisions around the future direction of Netflix's products. Establish a vision for the longterm while ensuring nearterm product features ladder up to a holistic user experience that delivers on the user needs and business goals.
+ Collaborate closely with your Product, Engineering, Data Science, Consumer Insights, and leadership partners to plan OKRs and execute on product roadmaps.
+ Develop and nurture relationships with stakeholders and ensure your team is designing and shipping impactful and cohesive product experiences.
+ Effectively communicate your team's product goals (both within the team and outside the team), and connect related projects across the company.
+ Bring a balanced perspective and thoughtful decision-making to strategic discussions, advocating for both user-centricity and needs of the business with your teams and your peers.
+ Build relationships with stakeholders and partners in service of discovering and delivering the best outcomes for Netflix including aligning on priorities and objectives.
+ Lead high-performing, highly engaged team and take ownership of team and organizational health.
+ Embody a growth mindset and a deep curiosity for the business, emerging technologies and human behavior to identify product opportunities.
+ Actively seek and provide constructive feedback.

Qualifications
+ 8+ years successfully managing high-performance Product Design teams.
+ Successful track record of leading teams to successful outcomes and shipping impactful consumer products across a variety of platforms at a global scale.
+ Ability to inspire, lead, and engage your design teams, leaning in and giving them critical business context, feedback, and direction.
+ Ability to navigate ambiguity, and drive clarity that brings the user, technology, and business together through rigorous design thinking and human-centered design for evolving problem spaces.
+ Experience working on large-scale, complex projects across multiple teams.
+ Experience leading product direction and strategic thinking by articulating a product vision, and goals, identifying opportunities, and making decisions based on the impact on people and the company.
+ Experience collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders, helping drive alignment between design and your cross-functional partners, and building strong relationships across business areas.
+ Exceptional communication skills, in writing and verbally, to represent work to broader product teams and leaders.
+ Experience connecting the dots across the organization with other related initiatives across the company while driving collaboration.
+ Experience working on products at the intersection of User Experience and AI a plus.
Pay Transparency
Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top-of-market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $270,000 - $700,000.
