Design Manager

To work within University Marketing & Communications (UMAC) to conceptualize, design and execute print and electronic marketing/advertising materials that strategically and creatively support marketing and communications efforts while safeguarding, advancing and promoting Belmont’s brand identity. Brings additional value to the University by overseeing and accepting responsibility for operative functions of design services team including training, professional development, talent outsourcing, quality control, vendor relations and overall team productivity. In addition, the Design Manager partners with the marketing strategy team to manage design team workload and workflow.

Work closely with the Creative Services & UMAC team to conceptualize, design and produce collateral, promotional and advertising pieces that effectively and creatively support the University’s brand.Serve as team leader to inspire the highest standards of quality, accuracy, speed and efficiency.Take lead role in managing design projects as assigned, directing others as necessary.Responsible for client communication and seeing all projects through to completion from concept and design to production as well as satisfactory acceptance by internal clients. Project examples include, but are not limited to, biannual Belmont Magazine, annual President’s Report and all Admissions Materials.Take lead role in identifying/evaluating outside vendors and managing relationships/partnerships with those vendors to ensure the best work is received at a high value.Identify, evaluate and activate outsource design talent options as necessary.Work with Marketing Strategy team to manage design workload and optimize design workflow; evaluate systems to identify potential gains in efficiency.Assist in planning and art directing photo shoots.Work to meet established production schedules and deadlines as assigned. Communicate with internal clients on job status as necessary.Understand Belmont’s marketing objectives and work collaboratively with team members to meet institutional goals.Recognize, value and promote UMAC’s commitment to team effort and team approach.The above statements describe the job’s essential responsibilities and requirements.
