The department is entering an exciting phase of opportunity by supporting our key client’s UK nuclear fleet through a business transformation, and by supporting new small modular reactor developers. Our work is varied, covering New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling, and our capabilities are in demand across the nuclear sector. This role will involve setting up a CAD management system to aid in the creation, modification, analysis, and optimisation of engineering design proposals. You will work to deliver innovative and practical design solutions that support small to large-scale engineering projects. Delivery of high-quality design work, focusing on mechanical components, piping layouts, P&IDs, electrical diagrams, civil, manufacturing drawings, and detailed 3D models. You will be interfacing with mechanical, process, electrical and civil engineering teams plus working closely with document control to ensure design data is recorded correctly. It is expected you liaise with the wider business and other design managers as required to ensure consistency across the company. The role will be supporting a team of designers to ensure consistency of high-quality outputs to clients with a “right first time” approach. This role involves managing multiple design tasks and ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with relevant codes and standards. This role is based out of the North West - it is expected a minimum of 2 days per week at the Amentum offices in Warrington, Knutsford or Manchester. Additional days for team collaboration and at client/supplier sites for projects as required. **Key Responsibilities** + Build CAD capability within the team, setting out standards and procedures for the production of technical drawings. + Build a culture within the team of “right first time”, continuous improvement and act as checking authority for design outputs. + Interface with the wider company ensuring consistency in design management + Planning and co-ordinating of design activities, including estimating labour effort for new bids + Support the development of junior design engineers through their career progression + Producing 2D and 3D CAD drawings using Inventor, Revit, and other software. + CAD Data Management administrator for the Energy team. Working closely with other CAD administrators within Amentum. + Qualification to HNC/HND standard in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience). + Chartered or Incorporated member (or working towards Chartership) of IMechE or equivalent + Extensive experience in a regulated industry, particularly in design for assembly and manufacturing processes. + Advanced knowledge of BS 8888 and ASME B31.1, B31.3 + Knowledge of electrical diagrams and schematics + Knowledge of civil structures + Awareness how CAD supports structural analysis and flow simulation + High proficiency in Inventor, AutoCAD, and other CAD design software, including Inventor Vault. + Strong leadership and project management skills, with experience overseeing design teams. + Familiarity with UK regulations, including Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and Construction Design Management (CDM). + Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills. + Strong attention to detail and understanding of technical design standards. + Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. **Our Culture** Our values stand on a foundation of safety, integrity, inclusion and diversity.
