Design Quality Representative

Key Roles and Responsibilities of Position;

Evaluate all vehicle appearance item components for adherence to design intent of surface quality (including radii, parting line quality, sink marks, knit/flow lines, etc.), texture, gloss and color attributes for Appearance (AAR) sign-off to Master & PPAP submissions during all key program milestones. Interface with program teams, design studio, engineering, and suppliers to understand design intent & provide feasibility relating to all appearance attributes & requirements (including surface development, parting line placement & quality, texture draft angle & metal removal specifications, material properties &
capabilities, manufacturing process constraints). During the development phase drive the TGSS (Tool grain specification sheets) process for all assigned programs to ensure design intent is met for all texture/grained parts (execution of specified grain, draft angle analysis & surface reviews, grain depth, tooling considerations, etc.) interfacing with internal and external key stakeholders (Design studio, Color & Materials, engineering, program teams, grain suppliers, Tier 1 suppliers). Drive all Color Harmony Processes that directly affect Design Quality processes for all designated programs (including but not limited to TGSS, Mold Flow, Colour Harmony reviews, etc.). Lead the Appearance Approval Process for Final Color Harmony from initial Studio Feasibility (Interior/Exterior) checkpoints, Color & Materials – Mastering, Raw Material, Tier 1 suppliers reviews, and product launch major milestones until OK to Buy has been achieved. Interface with assembly plant, launch & supplier personnel to ensure design intent is met and maintained throughout the production of the parts & vehicles. Lead & Support the Colour Harmony Process (CHP) for assigned programs.
o Adapt timing plan for each model year and programs’ milestones.
o Assist Colour Harmony team for key events (e.g., Supplier Awareness meeting, Launch Vehicle reviews, etc.)
o Monitor program deliverables for progress to ‘on-time’ completion. Develop & maintain Appearance Approval (AAR) tracking matrix.
o Using PDL create appearance item list.
o Update data for all changes (design intent, material, supplier, mfg. process, etc.).
o Provide forecast & actual AAR sign-off timing. Analyze data, provide metric reports & assist in issue resolution.
o Highlight potential issues & escalate for resolution, especially any disconnects impacting ontime AAR & Colour Harmony sign-off. Own, determine and provide Program team with OKtG and Final AAR tracking charts for presentation at Leadership & Directors reviews and lead report out where required.

Key Deliverables in position (i.e., in the next 2-5 years what is required to be delivered in the position)
Sustaining / improving vehicle appearance through education of the program teams, engineering, STA, and the supply base in the requirements outlined in PPAP, DCAP, & Color Harmony Process.
