Design Release Engineer. Troy, MI. Design and develop vehicular electrical distribution systems (EDS) wiring. Act as internal/customer point of contact to obtain cost/timing information for changes and report via change control meetings. Manage relationship with engineering customers and act as interface for design and development of signal and power systems. Provide on-site vehicle build support as necessary. Drive Design for Manufacturing and product development issues to close with customer. Work with customer to accomplish continuous improvement targets (warranty and cost reduction). Ensure Bill of Design (BOD) and Bill of Process (BOP) compliance. Identify, mitigate, and escalate risks as required to complete objectives. Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements. Participate in First Piece Sign-off at supplier manufacturing plants to assure the quality for each build. Requires Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related field and two years of experience as a Design & Release Engineer in the automotive industry. Experience must include: designing electrical wiring harnesses, supporting prototype and production build events, reviewing wire harness routing proposals, TeamCenter, and Vismockup or Zuken. Requires domestic or int'l travel to customer and Aptiv sites up to 20% of the time.
