Job DescriptionThe Design Release Engineer is responsible for the engineering, design, development, validation, timing and production release of the Seat system.The Engineer will have end to end ownership of their components and ensuring they meet vehicle functional objectives.Responsibilities also include: component design, development, and packaging; Design Verification Plan & Report (DVPR) testing; change management; bill of material maintenance; prototype and production build support; issues management; CAD model management in Teamcenter; weight reduction, cost reduction and other efficiency improvement initiatives; and communicating technical product status to management.Additionally, supporting vehicle assembly plants for any product technical issues, support service teams for any field warranty issues and help in root cause analysis of the failures.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field. Advanced certification in automotive interiors/seating is a plus.Experience: 2–5 years in automotive interior design, specifically seating systems. Expertise in advanced seat technologies (e.g., electric adjustment, memory foam, heating/ventilation). Familiarity with design validation, testing, and compliance.Technical Skills: Proficient in CAD (CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Knowledge of CAE tools, seat materials (foam, fabric, leather, plastics), automotive regulations (FMVSS, ECE, ISO, SAE), and manufacturing processes (molding, stitching, injection molding, assembly).Design & Development: Experience with product lifecycle, part release processes (BOM, configuration control), and collaboration with suppliers, manufacturing, and QA.Project Management & Communication: Strong organizational and leadership skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, communicate effectively, and document specifications and test procedures.Problem-Solving & Safety: Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting design and manufacturing issues. Knowledge of crash testing, seatbelt/airbag integration, and ergonomic design for comfort and support.
