Design Release Engineer - Seat Validation

The Seat Validation Engineer will be responsible for verifying the performance of seating systems, structures and components. The engineer will plan validation programs, develop test procedures, define performance standards and execute test plans. The engineer is responsible for root causing validation issues on metal structures and mechanisms, plastics, trim assemblies and related seat complete systems and defining corrective actions with cross-functional engineering groups and suppliers.


Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure systems comply with performance objectives.
• Serve as the regional single point of contact for seat validation.
• Coordinate test plans including laboratory scheduling and vehicle/buck ordering to meet program objectives.
• Develop test procedures for seat validation aligned with performance standard requirements.
• Supervise execution of test procedures with laboratories and adapt to unique requirements.
• Review test properties for pre and post test requirements.
• Root cause test issues and engage extended team.
• Lead homologation discussions with extended team.
• Develop technical specifications and testing methods to overcome lessons learned and implement best practices from previous programs.
• Support Design for Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Validation Plan and Report (DVP&R) updates.

Basic Qualifications:


• Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or related degree field.
• 5+ years of engineering experience in the automotive industry.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work autonomously, excellent communication skills, positive attitude, willingness to learn, flexibility, team-player, and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with seat structures, mechanisms and seat complete assemblies.
• Understanding of components and physical integration in vehicle.
• Understanding of stamping and welding processes.
• Understanding of fasteners and torque processes.
• Understanding of DFMEA.
• Familiarity with FMVSS, ECE requirements and third party such as IIHS.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience with global project management and leading cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in advanced CAD software such as NX, CATIA or SolidWorks.
