Position Overview Design & Release Intern (Body) – Summer 2025 We’re International. We build International trucks and engines and IC Bus® school and commercial buses, as well as develop Fleetrite aftermarket parts. The Body group, as part of the R&D organization, consists of six different teams (Cab-in-White, Bus Components, Interiors, Exterior Aero, Exterior Hoods & Body Components) that come together to design & develop our cutting-edge International Truck & IC Bus products. As a part of our Body Team, you will directly be responsible for both future model year development as well as the current model year improvements. Body is seeking passionate, motivated Mechanical Engineers to join our dynamic team as Design and Release Interns, where your contributions will be crucial in enhancing the design & performance of our entire vehicle lineup. About the Intern Program 12 week program with start dates on: May 12 or 19 or June 2 40 hours per week Must graduate between December 2025 - May 2027 Responsibilities The primary job function will be component design & development for current production & future product model projects Design and Develop: Detailed design of components & systems using CAD software to create 3D models & technical drawings Analyze and Validate: Perform engineering calculations & simulations to ensure designs meet safety & performance standards Prototype and Test: Participate in the fabrication, testing & evaluation of prototypes to refine designs. Creative use of 3D printing to produce more cost-effective parts Innovate: Contribute to brainstorming sessions & design reviews to solve engineering challenges & create new concepts and designs Collaborate: Work with manufacturing & other cross-functional teams to ensure smooth production processes Professional Growth: Gain hands-on experience with CAD software, engineering calculations, and prototype testing Minimum Requirements Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. International Motors does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B or F-1 status) Desired Skills Minimum required cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Basic understanding of vehicle body structures and systems is a plus Previous internship or project experience in automotive engineering is preferred Strong communication and organizational skills Critical thinking and problem solving Previous internships or work experience is a plus Ability to work independently Benefits and Compensation The expected compensation hourly pay ranges for hires into our 2025 campus intern openings is $24 - $38/hour.
