An opportunity has arisen for a Design Safety Manager to join Rolls Royce Bristol.

Design Safety engineers influence design through understanding how failures will affect system operation, and analyse the resulting design, providing feedback on any impact this will have to the safety or reliability of the system and ensuring that meet the appropriate standards. We are looking for a Design Safety Manager to supervise the Bristol team.

What you will be doing:
The Design Safety Manager will manage the team of Design Safety Engineers supporting New Product Introduction within the Defence UK division. This includes:
To lead and develop the members of their team within and beyond their respective disciplines, including individual and professional development, training, performance and reward management, HSE and security.To ensure staff are suitably qualified and experienced and that the required skills are sustainable for the future through: multi-skilling, staff rotation, and the competency framework tools and professional networks and standards.To provide technical leadership to the Engineering resource group and ensure compliance to process throughout the life cycle activityTo ensure that world class capability is effectively utilised to provide products and services that satisfy business requirements and contribute to the Design Safety Strategy.To create and maintain resource plans to meet the overall delivery commitments.To ensure that sufficient resource is available, through subcontract and recruitment (whilst adhering to Company manpower policy) to meet current and future business’ needs and budgets.To ensure effective knowledge management through the use of knowledge capture, lessons learnt, and best practice guides for the resource group, and encourage knowledge sharing within the group and beyondTo lead and drive efficiency through process review, teamwork and implementing continuous improvement and operational best practice within the field of work.Who we’re looking for

Qualified to degree level or equivalentKnowledge / experience of Safety & Reliability engineering techniques.Demonstrates sound engineering judgement and knowledge of the SectorDemonstrates effective leadership & engineering skillsCapable of building high performing teams and effecting a positive shift in attitudes and behavioursUnderstanding of Company Quality policies and processes deployed within the resource groupExperienced in applying process improvement techniques and driving business improvements*To work for Rolls-Royce you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.
