The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled Desktop Engineer to develop, maintain, and optimize Windows images for client workstations and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments at USEUCOM. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Microsoft technologies, imaging solutions, and patch management processes.
Responsibilities:
Image Development and Management:
Create and maintain Windows desktop images for fat clients and VDI environments.
Customize images to meet specific organizational needs.
Optimize image performance and ensure compatibility with various hardware platforms.
Patch Management:
Apply, test, and deploy Windows updates and patches to ensure security and performance.
Maintain a robust patching process to minimize downtime and security risks.
System Deployment:
Implement deployment strategies using tools like Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) or Intune.
Manage and automate deployments to reduce manual effort and errors.
Troubleshooting and Support:
Provide Tier 3 support to OPS for imaging-related and deployment issues.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to Windows environments.
Documentation and Compliance:
Maintain up-to-date documentation for imaging, patching, and deployment processes.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and security standards.
Qualifications:
Experience with hybrid or cloud-based VDI solutions (e.g., Citrix or VMWare Horizon Virtual Desktop).
Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or similar.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
Minimum 5-10 years of experience with Desktop Infrastructure and Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
Proven experience in building and maintaining Windows images.
Expertise in VDI environments (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix).
Strong background in Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy).
Experience with patch management tools and processes.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in imaging tools (e.g., Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), Windows ADK, Sysprep).
Knowledge of scripting (e.g., PowerShell, VBScript) for automation.
Familiarity with endpoint management tools like MECM/SCCM or Intune.
Understanding of security standards and hardening techniques for Windows environments.

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:
