Desktop Engineer

The Desktop Engineer will work closely with the key members of the infrastructure and business teams to drive the overall design and implementation of the company’s Microsoft Windows client architecture. This role evaluates new technologies and recommends solutions that improve the user experience, security, stability, and increased productivity. The role will serve as a technology SME for Microsoft Windows and focus on the design, administration, monitoring, and stability of our Microsoft Windows environment across the organization. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaboration and Projects:

Work with Tier 3 support team members and cross-functional teams to complete software deploymentsLead or assist in the design and implementation of new technologies and solutionsParticipate in the planning and execution of system upgrades and migrations

Incident Support and Management:

Provide Tier 3 support for Windows desktop issues escalated from Tier 1/Tier 2 support teamsDiagnose and resolve complex software issuesPerform root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement permanent fixesCommunicate with customers as required, keeping them informed of support progressDocument solutions and create knowledgebase articles to improve future support processes

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations, procedures, and support issuesGenerate reports within management tools to support enterprise wide decisions
 

User Support and Training:

Provide guidance and training to Tier 1/Tier 2 support staff when new technologies or solutions are implemented
 

Various other duties as assigned

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related technical field, or equivalent practical working experience3+ years in Desktop Engineering roleExperience with system imaging, deployment, and management tools (SCCM, Intune)Experience with Windows 10/11 operating system support and managementExperience packaging, deploying, and supporting applications such as Microsoft Office and Outlook, O365, and various other user applicationsExperience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, CMD)Proficient in Active Directory and Group PolicyFamiliarity with cloud services and integration (Microsoft Intune, Azure)Familiarity with change management or ITILFamiliarity with privilege management (BeyondTrust)Advanced troubleshooting/problem solving skillsExcellent written and verbal English communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent customer service skillsSelf-driven, motivated, able to engage with other engineers to brainstorm, plan, and architect major projects
