The Office of Classroom Management (OCM) is responsible for the day-to-day operation and long range academic space planning, management, and maintenance of classroom spaces for the University of Miami campuses. The Desktop Support associate will lead in supporting OCM special events, classroom assignments, and classroom technology & maintenance for all General Purpose Classroom (GPC) spaces. This position is required to work evenings and occasionally during high peak times, which may fall outside of normal business operational hours.

Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot classroom technology and customer inquiries. Installs, maintains, troubleshoot, and operates multi-media audio and visual equipment in classrooms and other areas where student instruction takes place at the University of Miami. Monitors classroom equipment using interface/monitoring software and maintains status records of classroom technology software & hardware.Assist the OCM Director with the classroom technology order, receives parts, and materials from vendors and performs inventory inspections.Coordinates with the OCM Director in the procurement activities of classroom technology for University wide usage.Asist with planning, monitoring, and participates in equipment/system installations and testing of equipment. Communicates with OCM Director, vendors, faculty, students, and UM community when instructional technology malfunctions. Act as the liaison between the Office of Classroom Management (OCM) and other non-OCM departments.10%
Provides training using classroom technology. Assists the OCM Director in the long-range planning and development of "classroom support" AV services model and audiovisual facilities in existing or new building facilities of the Office of Classroom Management.Assist with scheduling of events using the University scheduling system, special projects, and act as support to the OCM scheduling team. Keeps abreast of new methods and technologies, which can be integrated into the program to improve operations and services.Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School graduation or GEDOne year audio-visual classroom technology support at in an educational setting. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Conduct business with the highest level of customer service in an efficient, timely, and professional manner that aligns with the Office of Classroom Management expectations and University of Miami Common Purpose, Values, and Behaviors.Proficient with the operation of all equipment utilized by the department necessary to perform assigned duties.Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 40 lbs. without assistance. Some lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 70 lbs. with assistance. Ability to climb and work from ladders at various heights and tight spaces. Needs to have working knowledge of audio-visual concepts and ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous projects.
