About the Role
As a Detention Custody Officer (DCO) for Immigration Services, you will play a vital role in safely escorting and transporting individuals within the UK. Based at our Dungavel Vehicle Base, you will work as part of a dedicated team, alternating between driving a small minibus and escorting residents inside the vehicle. You'll help maintain high standards of security and safety while promoting respect and care for those in your custody.
You will work rotating shifts, covering both days and nights, as our services operate 24/7 year-round.
Essential Requirements:
Must be 21 or older and hold a UK manual car driving license (at least 12 months) Must have a valid UK passport or settled status with indefinite leave to remain Must have resided continuously in the UK for the past five years (no overseas stays longer than three months) Able to pass an Enhanced DBS check and meet Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) vettingAdditional Driving Criteria:
Must have fewer than 6 points on your UK driving license No driving bans or disqualifications in the past 12 monthsWhat We're Looking For
We seek respectful, empathetic individuals with excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. You should be non-judgmental, resilient, and effective at problem-solving. While no specific experience is required, experience in handling agitated or distressed individuals is advantageous.
Training & Career Development
Your training begins with a comprehensive 4-week course, including a 7-day residential course, followed by on-the-job mentoring and assessments over the first 12 months. You will earn a Level 3 apprenticeship in Detention and Custody as part of your career progression with us.
