TITLE: Developer – Global Reinsurance

KEY OBJECTIVES
With guidance set forth by the IT architect and other senior IT resources, the primary objective is to develop and maintain proprietary, business-critical web systems and applications. Participate in key stakeholder meetings, translating business needs into actionable developmental solutions. Global Reinsurance is undergoing a renaissance by replacing legacy systems and processes with leading open source technologies. The CEAN (CouchBase, ExpressJS, AngularJS, and Node.js) stack was adopted for this endeavor.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, integrate, update and support web software applications Provide primary development support Produce quality, stable and optimized code and delivery artifacts Analyze business requirements and design appropriate solutions for development tasks Meet project or task deadlines and schedules Work in an agile software delivery environment Strong advocate for learning new technologies, IT trends, and processes Produce appropriate development documentation for given projects
SCOPE
The Developer will partner closely with the Global Re IT team and key stakeholders to define and implement technical solutions that support the Global Re’s ongoing transformation from a complicated legacy centric model to a simplified and modern IT environment.
This position reports directly to the VP Systems, Global Re. Key relationships are with the business users and the Global Re IT team.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Systems Engineering. Awareness of leading technologies and IT trends. Ability to learn new coding languages and frameworks. Ability to work as part of a team or independently, with minimum supervision. Creative problem solving and debugging skills Self-motivated, proactive attitude, initiative, and flexibility. Ability to multi-task Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Strong communications, interpersonal and presentation skills U.S. citizenship. Sponsorship is not available.
Preferred Experience
2+ years of corporate software development. Experience with most of the following: CouchBase, MongoDB, Node.js, AngularJS, JSON, MVC, .NET, or REST.
