The squad is responsible for maintaining the systems that enables REA to bill our customers in a near infinite variety of ways, covering everything from creating quotes & charges, to collecting payments, to frontend development in our React Ignite frontend and developing new more flexible products. This critical work ensures REA continues to grow its revenues. The Commerce Platform tribe is collectively responsible for delivering a great platform that the market facing teams can use to deliver great products to our customers. **What the role is all about** As a Developer on a **12-month fixed term contract** you will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining our products in a collaborative team and cross team environment. You will be expected to implement solutions using a variety of programming languages, databases and cloud technologies. You will follow agile software development practices such as test-driven development, continuous delivery and pair programming. You will form a part of a small 100% Melbourne based cross-functional team and will contribute to the success of the Purchasing team’s mission. **Responsibilities:** + Coding, testing and deploying new software products using a variety of technologies and platforms. + Building high quality solutions that meet the needs of our users + Contribute to technical design and team practices + Supporting production systems + Share learnings and knowledge + Ensure code quality by influencing a standard, having a consistent style and loosely coupled code + Perform code reviews + Maintaining existing products, including bug fixes and “Business As Usual” feature enhancements. **Who we’re looking for** + Skills in one or more of our programming languages – TypeScript and Ruby. + Skills in modern software development techniques such as functional programming, OO design, test driven development, micro-services and continuous delivery. + Skills in building back-end systems using cloud technologies – AWS preferred. + Willingness to experiment with new technology and programming languages. + Able to be effective in a collaborative team environment. + Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or similar highly desirable. + Looks at tricky situations through a solutions-focused lens + Work productively in a fast paced and agile environment **The REA experience** The physical, mental, emotional and financial health of our people is something we’ll never stop caring about.
