ABOUT THE TEAM

SAP HANA is a powerful data management platform for real-time business applications. At its core, SAP HANA is an in-memory database management system designed to simultaneously process transactional and analytical workloads in a wide range of environments, scaling from multi-core and multi-socket to distributed setups. SAP HANA Cloud is the version of SAP HANA for cloud scenarios as a fully managed in-memory cloud database as a service (DBaaS). To tackle the challenges of tomorrow, SAP is constantly adapting to the advancements in research and technology.

 

 

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

SAP hosts SAP HANA Cloud in a database-as-a-service (DBaaS) environment and is therefore responsible for updates to the service. Customer satisfaction depends on how fast SAP can deliver updates and on how short the interruptions for customers are.

Contrary to the typical experience of small-scale cloud projects, upgrading a large database instance such as SAP HANA is a complex task that includes many interesting and partly unresolved challenges where a mass-upgrade of many instances can even exhaust resources of a hyperscaler. These open challenges involve questions about reliable implementation, resilience, handling of mass-events, software quality, adhering to quality management, and interactions with multiple teams involved in SAP HANA Cloud development.

We are looking for candidates with a software development profile who are interested in extending our services on managing SAP HANA Cloud deployments and solving these challenges.

Be accountable for the software that manages SAP HANA Cloud deployments and -upgrades Extend the software by developing reliable code Focus on quality, not only for your own software but also the system managed by your software Innovative thinking, identify opportunities and drive innovation Take over developer on duty tasks outside regular working hours in exceptional cases Ability to work well in close teamwork across international locations

 

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

 

Required

A master's degree in computer science or a bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of working experience Proficient with at least one of the following programming languages: Python; Go; C++; JAVA; Rust Experience in cloud computing and container technologies such as Kubernetes. A proven track record in software development or experience with programming that is demonstrated by existing projects Verbal and written working proficiency in English

 

Preferred

Experience with front-end programming Experience with Argo workflow Knowledge of database system and SQL usage Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery concepts and tools such as github or Jenkins
