Job Description

The exp.o Customs application development team is responsible for developing a core business application designed to facilitate customs and government agency filings globally.  The application is intended to provide the following functionality:

Enable delivery of a consistent level of service and data to our customersDrive operational efficiency that is aligned with our business processesDeliver comprehensive compliance with governmental agencies and customer requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Applying your object-oriented design and analysis experience to identify and implement the right design patterns and frameworks needed to translate business requirements into scalable, efficient and reliable system design specificationsUsing your technical and interpersonal skills to proactively guide teammates on dependencies and technical approaches for a problemOwning the team's code quality through code reviews and championing the use of right practicesDemonstrating a sense of ownership, strong communication skills, creativity, initiative, and attention to detailCommunicating technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersEmbracing and promoting our technologies including Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery practicesStriving to continually learn about enabling and emerging technologies that will add business value to our core system

This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

BS or BA in Computer Science or similar; or comparable work experience2+ years of professional software development experience2+ years in professional setting routinely performing analysis and design using object-oriented techniques. Experience working with backend code (Java/Spring) to write business logic, database queries, etc.2+ years' experience in programming with Java in professional setting2+ years professional experience with relational databases, PostgresSQL, SQL, and ORM in enterprise applicationsDemonstrated long-term experience supporting enterprise systemsExperience with Agile software development methodologies

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with event-driven architectureExperience with transportation and logistics or supply-chain solutionsExperience with compliance or risk-management solutionsExperience with HibernateExperience with SOAP and REST Service ImplementationExperience with Common Java IDE's like IntelliJ and EclipseExperience with Git, branching, and merge requests/pull requestsExperience with KafkaExperience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and monitoringExperience with enterprise Linux operation systems

Additional Information

Expected base salary:  $100,000 to $145,000
