Job Description

This Developer in Test role will be focused on building and testing technologies within our internal developer platform (or landing zone), called the Enterprise Core Platform.  They will play a key role in a cross-functional agile development team and will be responsible for the design, architecture, and implementation of various cloud native testing components and frameworks. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, collaborative team player, and problem solver. 

Cloud-native systems are designed to thrive in a dynamic, virtualized cloud environment, these systems make extensive use of Platform as a Service (PaaS) compute infrastructure and managed services. This Developer in Test will be well versed in these technologies (particularly within Azure) and possess the skills to quickly adapt and learn new ones.  The Enterprise Core Platform is a young endeavor. It will require technologies and techniques that are new to many at Expeditors but available and proven in the wider technology domain.     

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and implement test frameworks that validate the functionality of the Enterprise Core Platform and its componentsDesign test automation that is reusable and scalable in support of the platform visionProvide flexible solutions emphasizing speed, scale, and agilityWork with various development teams coaching them on testing processes, frameworks and best practicesAwareness of various cloud native technologies and the ability to apply them to this contextBe a collaborative member of a highly motivated and very agile teamStep out of traditional roles to help wherever it is needed – embrace the agile mindsetFollow technology trends/tools and recommend improvements to the technology when appropriateParticipate in R&D initiatives to bring new tools to the Core PlatformSupport and participate in DevSecOps practices and processes

This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years in an automated software testing or site reliability engineering role in a team environmentDemonstrated knowledge and experience with:Creating automated test frameworks for cloud-based technologiesInfrastructure as Code testingFrameworks for testing GraphQL and Rest APIsCreating application performance, load, and stress tests in a cloud-based environmentSolid Java and/or Python coding abilitiesExperience with GitLab and GitOpsExperience with the Kubernetes ecosystemExperience with CI/CD pipeline development, testing, integration and refinementUnderstanding of design for scalability, performance, security, and reliabilityWillingness to forgo role boundaries and contribute where neededCustomer service-oriented attitude and great time-management skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience creating test cases with Pytest, Junit and/or similar code testing toolsUI testing experience with Test Café, Playwright, and/or SeleniumAPI Testing with Insomnia and/or Postman (Rest and GraphQL)Performance and load testing (K6 preferred)Configuration testing for Infrastructure as Code (Conftest preferred)Azure SDK for testing the Azure InfrastructureKnowledge of the Kafka testing tools and frameworksKnowledge of Spring and Spring Boot automated testing toolsDemonstrated scripting experienceDeclarative environment management with Terraform or BicepExperience creating test frameworks for distributed systemsExperience working within a SAFe/Agile development framework

Additional Information

Expected base salary:  $120,000 to $170,000

May be eligible for bonus following first year of continuous employment in position.
