Responsibilities

The Transitional Research, Innovation, and Test Development Office (TRITDO), has an opening for a Developer whose primary focus will be mass spectrometry. TRITDO is responsible for developing diagnostic tests. If you enjoy innovation, learning new technologies, tinkering, experimenting, and working in a project focused environment, TRITDO might be for you!

In the Developer role you will be an innovator who develops, evaluates, and implements novel/new tests, methodologies, technologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual and scientific guidance of laboratory directors and [DT3]. Responsibilities include:

Improving existing methods or implementation of novel technology of proven validity within the work unitOrganizing new method validation dataPreparing data for publication and peer reviewParticipating in formal presentationsActively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. 



Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must meet one of the qualifications below. 

Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution, and two years of relevant laboratory experience, ORBachelor's degree, in addition to a certificate in MLS, and two years of relevant laboratory experience.

*A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Other clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. 

Additional Qualifications 

Academic rank preferred. Master's degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology or Doctoral degree (PhD) in chemistry or a biological science is preferred. Self-motivated, highly organized, efficient, and the ability to work independently exercising strong decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Capable of reproducing a reference method using available procedures without supervision. Demonstrated analytical and scientific competency with development and/or validation of lab techniques or procedures. Experience with data collection, organization, analysis and delivery of information. ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.
