Abilities First, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides a wide range of educational, vocational, residential, and clinical programs and services to over 1,200 people with multiple disabilities of all ages and their families throughout the Mid-Hudson Valley region. Our mission is to serve people with disabilities and their families by developing and providing innovative services, advocacy, and support in a culture of dignity and respect. Position Summary FAFNY seeks a highly motivated and dynamic individual to support fundraising initiatives and donor relations. This position works closely with the Director of Development and Advancement team to implement fundraising strategies, maintain donor relations, and provide administrative support for development activities. The individual must be able to work independently and collaboratively and be passionate about representing the interests of the Abilities First mission and those of our participants. Position Standards + Assist in all aspects of organizational events that contribute to strengthening the Abilities First corporate image. + Organize and represent the agency at community events through the creation of volunteer committees, event planning, and sponsorship development + Assist in planning and executing fundraising events, including donor receptions, annual golf and tennis classic, and cultivation events + Manage guest lists, RSVPs, and event logistics + Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders for event execution + Coordinate event materials, including name tags, programs, and signage + Support donor relations information in Raiser Edge/NXT system + Assist in record keeping of donor-restricted donations, pledges, and payments + Generate regular reports on fundraising progress and donor activities + Ensure accuracy and timeliness of donor records and gift documentation + Serve as liaison with the FAFNY Board of Directors + Coordinate content for newsletters, social media, and annual reports for marketing + Support the development of fundraising materials and campaigns This is a remote work position with weekly travel required to meet with the Director of Development, as well as the ability to travel throughout our service areas in Dutchess and Orange Counties for agency events and meetings as needed. Requirements + Proficiency in donor database management system (Raiser’s Edge NXT) + Proficiency in Excel data management system. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Self-starter committed to working collaboratively within a team + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail + Ability to work independently and collaboratively + Proficiency in word processing + Detailed-Oriented with excellent follow-through + Familiarity with Canva Physical Demands The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential responsibilities and functions of the job successfully and are not meant to be all-inclusive. Minimum Qualifications + Minimum two (2) years of experience in event planning, community relations, or project management in a not-for-profit organization. + A Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred, or a combination of education and experience that qualifies the individual in the employer's view may be deemed acceptable. + Proven track record of highly creative and successful events. + Must have a current NYS Driver’s License, free of moving violations, deemed acceptable by our insurance carrier.
