Development Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY\n

The Development Coordinator is responsible for reviewing all plats under the supervision of the City Engineer for compliance with Conroe City Code Ordinances and the Texas Local Government Code; to provide the City Planning Commission with recommendations for action on submitted plats. Assists the City Engineer in development of planning programs, performing tasks related to developmental land use, regulatory enforcement, data management and research. \n

QUALIFICATIONS\n

Education and Experience:\n

Bachelor's degree in urban planning, architecture, public policy or related field is preferred and two years of professional planning experience or similar work experience with a municipality, public entity or a consulting civil engineering firm; or equivalent combination of education or experience. \n

Special Requirements:\n

Experience with Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD and ArcGIS\/ArcMap for maps and exhibits, BluePrince for archiving and project management, Google Earth, scanners, copiers, printers preferred. \n

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: \n\nKnowledge of the principles and practices of planning and platting.\nKnowledge of relevant specialization such as transportation and land use.\nKnowledge of principles and practices of research and data collection.\nKnowledge of effective writing techniques.\nAbility to organize, plan and keep up with work schedules.\nAbility to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to make effective presentations to various groups and assemblies.\nAbility to plan and direct the work of subordinate professionals and technical staff.\nAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.\nAbility to review plats in compliance with City Codes and Subdivisions Ordinance.\nAbility to communicate with surveyors and engineers and forward comments to them on platting matters.\nAbility to attend the Planning Commission meetings.\n\n

PHYSICAL DEMANDS\n

The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and\/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.\n
