Under general supervision, the Development Director is responsible for advancing the American Heart Association’s mission through planning and implementing plans that are part of the comprehensive strategic plan to drive balanced revenue growth and expand the overall pipeline with a focus on individual giving. This includes ensuring that revenue goals are achieved both independently and in collaboration and coordination with internal partners across the division.
We have a fast-paced sales type of environment with the main responsibility of driving revenue in support of our mission. We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive up to 25% of your base pay. The potential incentive is based on achieving certain revenue targets and triggers.

Responsibilities New Business Development: As a member of the Los Angeles Development team, identifies, secures, and cultivates prospective individual donors and deepens relationships with current donors. Includes researching, vetting, conducting outreach (cold and warm leads), and stewarding new and lapsed donors. Actively coordinates and collaborates with market team to ensure seamless communication and outreach utilizing a donor-centric approach across campaignsIndividual Giving: Prospects, secures, cultivates, retains, and recognizes Cor Vitae giving society members. Ensures that the market is participating in activation and cultivation efforts including developing, implementing, and evaluating donor stewardship plans based on giving reports. Interfacing closely with Development and Mission Advancement stakeholders, drives stewardship and cultivation strategies to build greater awareness among members and prospects, including but not limited to: developing key strategies for volunteer engagement, assessing key population segments and timetables for targeted marketing and communications to internal and external partners.Corporate Volunteerism: In coordination with internal partners, supports the engagement and activation of the Board of Directors and other volunteer leaders. Develops and implements opportunities to meaningfully and progressively involve current and prospective corporate volunteers.Manages a comprehensive cultivation tracking system for all individual giving donors and prospects, documenting research on each prospect, personalized cultivation strategies, and communications.Manages donor information utilizing American Heart Association systems accurately, timely and completely in accordance with established guidelines. Ensure the integrity and security of donor information and adhere to the Special Event Cash Handling policies.Proactively ensures timely communication with internal and external partners and customers, supporting collaboration in account management and activities to achieve shared goals. Qualifications2 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or equivalent type experience
Ability to do daily local travel; requires access to reliable transportation at all times
Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving
Must have at least basic knowledge and skill/proficiency with Microsoft Office

Compensation & Benefits
Expected pay range will be $66,700 to $80,000 annually. This position is incentive eligible based on achieving certain targets. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
