As our organization continues to grow, we seek an innovative and strategic **Development Director** to lead our fundraising efforts and drive sustainable financial support -- knowledge of the grant writing process is a must. **The Role**
Reporting to the **Executive Director** , the Development Director will be a key member of the leadership team, collaborating closely with the **Business Manager** and board members to develop and execute cutting-edge fundraising initiatives. This individual will spearhead efforts to expand our donor base, secure funding from diverse sources, and align development strategies with our mission and long-term goals.
With an annual operating budget of **$1.3 million** , we’re looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, brings fresh ideas to fundraising, and is passionate about arts education and community engagement.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Develop and implement a forward-thinking, multi-year fundraising strategy that includes major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, annual campaigns, planned giving, and special events.
+ Cultivate and strengthen relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporations, and government agencies to increase philanthropic support.
+ Oversee and optimize donor engagement programs, ensuring a personalized and meaningful experience for supporters at all levels.
+ Lead grant writing efforts, managing proposals, reports, and compliance in collaboration with the **Business Manager** .
+ Maintain and enhance the donor database (CRM) to ensure accurate records, reporting, and acknowledgment of contributions.
+ Analyze donor trends and past giving patterns to identify new opportunities and enhance fundraising strategies.
+ Develop and oversee the department budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and return on investment.
+ Inspire and mobilize board members, staff, and volunteers to actively participate in fundraising initiatives.
+ Plan and execute high-impact donor events, galas, and intimate engagement opportunities.
+ Represent the organization at community and industry events, strengthening partnerships with cultural and educational institutions.
+ Serve as a visible and engaged leader, fostering a culture of philanthropy and long-term sustainability.
**What We’re Looking For**
+ **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Philanthropy, Non-Profit Management, Arts Administration, or a related field.
+ **Experience:** At least **3-5 years of proven success in fundraising** within non-profits, ideally in the arts, culture, or education sectors.
+ **Skills:** Exceptional organizational, strategic planning, and communication abilities; fluency in written and spoken English.
+ **Mindset:** A creative and proactive problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative and mission-driven environment.
