If you are an Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! As a Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of new products using industrial compression technology.
These new solutions will focus on sustainability, improved efficiency, lower GWP refrigerants in a wide range of industry segments on an international level. You will work with cross-functional teams to develop all of the details of the design to integrate purchased components into the manufacturing of the product to allow a configure to order selection using software. The team may include working directly with strategic partners, test laboratories, customers and our Cudahy, WI and Pune, India teams.
AS A DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER-NPD YOU WILL:
Develop compressor and/or package units, meeting engineering specifications while achieving company production and quality standards and customer requirements.
Develop the comprehensive design, BOM, and associated details to support the manufacturing of a standard product design that is configurable to order. Manage projects from inception to completion and ensure proper engineering principles and applications are followed.
Support R&D Efforts and the assembly and testing of components on prototype units and in the field as required.
Review drawings and make recommendations to improve design, reduce cost, and/or increase production efficiency, and verify, evaluate, and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
Assist in pre-job planning, scheduling, and management.
Participate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve problems and ensure continuous improvements in the level of quality.
Analyze indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications.
Complete and maintain all required reports, paperwork, documentation, etc.
Ensure compliance with housekeeping procedures and company quality standards and safety regulations.
Required education skills and experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with interest in compression systems.
Experience using 3D and 2D design computer programs like Inventor/AutoCAD and Vault
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings, specifications, regulatory codes, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Effective written and oral communication skills to give presentations and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, including responding to questions from the field sales force, customers, and other employees of the company
Fundamental understanding of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics
Established practical problem-solving skills showing the skills to be able to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to operate a variety of engineering tools
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, including international travel
Preferred education skills and experience:
Understanding of compressor technology and qualification testing
Demonstrate the ability to work with Manufacturing and Production Engineering to release new products
Strong English communication skills
