What you’ll do
We are looking for a people-person to join our team, as one of our strong, committed, self-motivated, reliable, and analytically skilled team players, together owning and shaping the future of the SAP Business Technology Platform commercial services. You will be part of a highly motivated team located both in Israel and Berlin.
As a Development Manager (f/m/d), you will lead efforts to build a scalable system designed to process large volumes of complex commercial business scenarios. Your responsibilities will include designing and developing enterprise-grade products and services that leverage various tools and technologies. You will create compelling product visions jointly with the product team and lead teams to execute this vision. As a leader, you will represent the work of your teams to internal and external stakeholders. You will work together with the development leads, product owners, product managers, and development operations colleagues in your team and other teams to create value for our customers from the first idea to a successful market entry, adoption, and beyond.
Your tasks include:
Product Delivery: Define product plans and execute against a committed delivery timeline; Manage the day-to-day activities of the development team (including developer on duty 24/7 support shifts and manager on duty shifts). Co-Product Ownership: Together with the team Product Owner and Product Manager, ownership of the complete software development lifecycle, designing, leading implementation, and testing of new features, ensure adoption by stakeholders within a fast-paced, agile environment. Product Support: Manage customer expectations via product support ensuring high standards in incident processing, quality of interactions, and fixes that are delivered. Development Expertise: Provide functional, architectural guidance to the team. Technical Hands-On: Maintain a hands-on approach to deliver highly available and scalable services with a strong focus on aspects such as resiliency, observability, scalability, monitoring, and FinOps. People Management: Management of people including active engagement, staffing, talent management, career aspirations, mentoring, and enhancing skills of team members to maintain a best-in-class Artificial Intelligence development team. Location Leadership: Actively contribute and drive various leadership initiatives for the location, e.g., cross-unit collaboration, training plan execution, general administration, hiring & internship management, etc.
What you bring
University Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of experience in software product development with a focus on developing cloud services and solutions. 2+ years of proven experience as a Development Manager in the software industry: Demonstrated ability to lead development teams effectively and manage day-to-day operations. Strong advocate for Agile development processes with experience implementing well-run, agile processes in multiple functions including Development, QA, Release & Deployment. Foster a robust, unified team atmosphere by empowering the development team to engage in efficient, smooth cross-collaboration dynamics for optimized productivity. Demonstrate strong organizational skills and comfort in leading change. Effectively lead teams, manage customer incidents promptly and ensure concerns are addressed within the SLA period. Mentor and support developers in solving technically challenging issues, enabling them to benefit from your extensive experience and expertise. Beneficial: Proven track record in planning and executing complex product/service handovers; Experience in defining success KPIs for handovers, ensuring smooth transitions and maintaining service quality throughout the process. Required technology exposure & experience: SaaS delivery based on microservice architecture. Container technologies like docker, Kubernetes etc. Cloud integration and deployment on AWS, GCP or Azure. Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Go and Java. Demonstrate comprehensive understanding and expertise in DevOps methodologies and principles. Fluent English language skills, spoken and written.

These foundational services provide a framework that supports the definition and management of platform content artifacts, including services, applications, and commercial entities such as accounts and data centers. Furthermore, these backbone services facilitate resources and tools for BTP service owners and cloud operators, streamlining internal platform management. They also empower external stakeholders such as customer admins, developers, and controllers to effectively utilize and interact with the platform.
