Job Description
The Development Officer, Foundation Relations will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting and stewarding gifts from grantmaking foundations to benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Reporting to the Development Director, Foundation Relations, the Development Officer demonstrates excellent writing and communication skills by producing clear and compelling proposals and reports to grantmaking foundations. In addition to these responsibilities, the Development Officer develops and implements strategies for growing the pipeline of new donors in the Foundation Relations portfolio and assists in organizing site visits and special stewardship opportunities for foundations.Experience

Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.Outstanding time management skills; must have the ability to meet multiple deadlines ahead of schedule, organize competing priorities and perform well under pressure.Skilled in conducting research on new foundation donors and providing information on their philanthropic priorities.Ability to build productive relationships across different internal teams at Children’s, including clinical leaders and departments such as finance, marketing and other areas as needed.Aptitude for financial analysis of grant budgets for proposals and reports.Must have the ability to represent Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in a credible, effective manner among friends of the hospital, trustees, parents, individuals, corporations, and foundations.Demonstrated interest in professional educational enhancement such as through seminars and advanced training.Knowledge of fundraising and project management softwareDemonstrates team player attitude and positive approach with strong interpersonal skillsJob Responsibilities
Raises funds to meet the annual Foundation Relations team goal by cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding new and current foundation donors for Children’s.Collaborates with the Development Director, Foundation Relations, to implement strategies for identifying potential prospects and growing the Foundation Relations donor base.Maintains up-to-date records on both prospects and donors via our fundraising database.Represents Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta appropriately at miscellaneous community functions to network and nurture new and existing relationships.Helps achieve annual revenue and other targets for Foundation Relations while minimizing cost to raise a dollar.Maintains close association with and expert knowledge of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.Supports and encourages staff professional development by communicating with peers in other organizations to generate new fundraising ideas.Participates in educational programs, professional organizations, and development activities to maintain knowledge of national trends in healthcare and philanthropy.Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants and employees without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, citizenship, age, veteran status, disability or any other characteristic covered by applicable law.
