Job Title Development Officer - Alumni Affairs Agency Texas A&M International University Department Office of the VP for Institutional Advancement Proposed Minimum Salary $19.06 hourly Job Location Laredo, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Job Summary The Development Officer I, under general supervision, creates plans and administers programs and activities to solicit gifts from donors to include personal solicitations, telemarketing and mail. Works closely with the Director, Board leaders, and other staff to prepare and coordinate the annual development program to meet the financial goals of the organization. Essential duties and responsibilities + Solicits prospects for gifts and sponsorships from annual giving societies. + Assist with alumni engagement process to include attending events off campus. + Prepares annual work plans, procedures, and policies. + Maintains positive relationships and provides stewardship for gifts. + Plans and implements multiple direct mail and email appeals on a periodic basis. + Develops and maintains an online giving program and social network initiative. + Works with the Director and various campus constituencies to assist with campus fundraising. + Provides written information and reports as requested. Additional responsibilities + Responsible for fostering a culture of philanthropy among students and alumni + Work closely with university departments and student organizations to integrate philanthropy into campus culture + Organize and oversee fundraising events, including logistics, guest lists, and promotional materials. + Develop and distribute communication materials to promote philanthropic initiatives, including social media posts and email campaigns. + Provide training and support to student volunteers involved in fundraising activities + Create reports to independently track and manage fundraising activities and results, data analysis, metrics, progress reports. + Working with the Advancement team, construct the necessary lists, reports, and dashboard tools to support fundraising efforts including data, benchmarking, and forecasting. + Provide oversight and direction for the Advancement Services area which includes gift processing, prospect research, and donor relations. Minimum requirements + Education – Bachelor’s degree in applicable field + Experience – No prior experience required. Preferred Education and Experience + Experience managing database systems, , and working knowledge of business intelligence reporting and/or statistical analysis tools + Two or more years’ experience or involvement in fundraising, marketing, public relations, event planning, and outreach + Demonstrated experience managing prospect development and research resources + Proficiency in using technology and social media for fundraising purposes + Knowledge of graphic design and social media marketing Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of: + Knowledge of database and spreadsheet applications. Ability to: + Multitask and work cooperatively with others. + Work in an environment of constant demands and frequent interruptions. + Maintain confidentiality at all times.
