As the Paint Development Technician, you will produce liquid samples by following a formulation recipe in the blending of paint samples. Typical sample sizes are ½ pint to 1 quart and up to 5 gallon for internal and external equipment trials.

Responsibilities:
Create liquid samples of several volumes for testing.
Prepare sample materials such as coated wood, vinyl, fiberglass and others and apply test coatings by following applicant process sequence as instructed.
Conduct physical property testing such as adhesion, abrasion resistance, stain/chemical resistance, scratch resistance, gloss retention, etc.
Perform color matching on wood substrates using stains and/or with opaque systems.
Plan and enact application and formulation of DOE's.
Support 5s activities including cleaning of spray booths, work areas, and equipment. Dispose of waste in proper waste streams.
Follow all safety practices, wear appropriate PPE, and maintain EHS data.
Enter and track testing data, LIMS lab notebook for projects, and communicate with colleagues, chemists, and other team members on all relevant information.
Qualifications:
HS diploma, GED, or equivalent
2+ years of Lab Experience.
Liquid paint application experience.
Strong problem-solving skills and proficiency following procedures.
Must not be color blind.
Good math skills and accurate measuring skills.
