Developmental Services Transition Advisors help educate individuals and families about Medicaid and other government programs that have partial federal funding once a case manager is assigned. The position will support individuals between the ages of 16-22. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE A Bachelor's degree in education, educational counseling, social work, special education, vocational rehabilitation or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of professional experience in one of the following: + Providing professional services to individuals with an intellectual disability. OR + Delivering special education services in an accredited school system. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED A Master's degree in education, educational counseling, social work, special education, vocational rehabilitation or a closely related field and one (1) year of the professional experience noted above may be substituted for the General Experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS + Experience working within the educational field and with transition aged youth + Bilingual (Spanish & English) + Experience with educational school systems, education assessments and teaching practices + Experience with State and Federal benefit programs + Experience with legal decision-making options for individuals with developmental disabilities + Experience presenting at transition/informational events for various stakeholder groups (Youth, Families, Educational Professionals, etc.) + Experience with cultural competencies as they may relate to students + Experience with Microsoft Office products of Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS + Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license. + Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
