POSITION SUMMARY:

Soft-Pak is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with iseries experience that can build culture and automation to empower our software delivery teams to deploy continuously. You will help with system administration, architecture and engineering. You will manage our AWS infrastructure, as well as engineer and maintain a fully automated CI/CD pipeline. In addition, you will develop internal standards and work with software delivery teams to provide them the autonomy necessary to deliver, test and monitor our applications using DevOps best practices

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

Design, architect, build, and continuously maintain a high performance and highly available database infrastructure.Configures and monitors servers to ensure maximum uptime. This role may also involve backing up data and migrating data from other servers and databases.Provide advanced support for IBM i environments, including system administration, architecture, and engineering. This role involves leading system installations, software configuration, security hardening, and disaster recovery planning.Work with engineering teams to optimize data architecture for performance and resiliency.Proactively analyze and resolve anomalies in environment performance.Participate in engineering code reviews for SQL and other data architecture.Up to 30% will be required for this position.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required. Significant experience managing and administrating relational databases, such as MySQL.Experience with containerization and infrastructure as code technologies, preferably Terraform, Docker.Experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, AWS Code Pipeline, Gitlab, or others.Experience with Ansible or other modern software configuration management tools, such as Salt, Chef, or Puppet.Familiarity with best practices for well-architected, secure cloud applications.Hands-on experience working within an enterprise-wide data center environment is desired.At least 2 years of experience (in coding and scripting using one or more programming languages.Minimum 3 years of experience with Linux administration.Minimum 1 year of direct Amazon AWS RDS experience (or equivalent cloud environments and features).Minimum 1 year of experience with iSeries/AS400 operating systems and hardware.Knowledge of computer languages like COBOL, VisualBasic, C++, and Java.Experience creating, building, and maintaining different libraries in an AS/400 environment.Ability to create and execute (iseries) command line programs for various backup, monitoring and job scheduling activities.Collaborates with application support staff and DBAs to ensure external databases can connect to the DB2 database.Willingness to provide after-hours and weekend support as needed.Excellent oral and written skills.

NICE TO HAVE:

Experience with container provisioning and management such as AWS ECS, Kubernetes, or AWS EKS.Experience building end-to-end CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, AWS Code Pipeline, Gitlab, or others.Experience creating/maintaining large-scale automated deployments with Salt, Ansible, or others.Experience with managing Distributed database clusters (Cassandra/Mongo/ElasticSearch).Significant experience with multiple monitoring and logging tools such as AWS CloudWatch + CloudTrail, Elastic Stack, Grafana + Prometheus, Datadog, and Splunk.Experience in designing, building, architecting of applications and networks.Relevant Professional Certification(s) in AWS and/or Linux.
