Position Information Class Code: G210C Grade: GS06 FLSA Status: EXEMPT Salary Range: $36,155.00 - $57,668.00 Summary The Department of Human Services (DHS) Program Specialist is responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and evaluating human service programs. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Functions Researches, analyzes, and interprets existing and proposed state and federal laws related to specific Department of Human Services program areas, and prepares reports regarding the impact, implementation, and evaluation of such laws. Reviews records and reports to determine service effectiveness and policy and procedure compliance of program activities. Develops program plans, policies, procedures, and reporting mechanisms and revises operating manuals with changes or additions. Investigates complaints, identifies program deficiencies, prepares corrective action plans and implementation procedures, and conducts follow-up review to ensure corrective action plans are implemented and evaluates their effectiveness. Provides technical assistance and serves as a coordinator for the review, interpretation, and development of specific program policy, procedure and/or funding. Discusses policy and procedure effectiveness or problems with department, state and federal representatives and establishes resolution methods. Performs other duties as assigned. Dimensions None Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations, and policies governing social service programs delivery. Knowledge of research and analysis techniques. Ability to analyze, interpret, develop and apply laws, policies and procedures governing specific departmental programs. Ability to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services. Ability to prepare, present and review oral and written information. Ability to utilize computer software and applications.
