Summary
The Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (DCES) is responsible for inpatient and outpatient education for diabetic patients within the Standard of Care set by Parkview Health System and Indiana Nurse Practice Act. Delivers comprehensive and seamless services that bridge the gap and integrate clinical and self-management aspects of diabetes and cardiometabolic care. Is an integral part of the interprofessional team and provides collaborative, comprehensive and person-centered care, and education conducive to behavior change and improved quality of life across the lifespan. Supports and advocates for people affected by diabetes to optimize quality care. Promotes self-management to achieve individualized behavioral and treatment goals that reduce risks and optimize health outcomes.
Education
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required within 3 years of start date.
Licensure/Certification
Registered Nurse License by the State of Board of Nursing. Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist or Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management preferred. Current CPR certification.
Experience
5 years experience preferred working as an RN in clinical setting.
Other Qualifications
Demonstrates excellent customer service, establishes priorities, and works independently. Must have good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
