Position Summary

Educates patients and families about diabetes, providing them with information and skills to manage diabetes and new behaviors. Evaluates learning experience and outcomes.

Primary Position Responsibilities

Diabetes Education Documentation of Care Education Classes Diabetes Technology Billing Development of Diabetes Education Materials Maintains Patient Safety

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Required: BSN – If Associates Degree or Diploma must be enrolled in BSN program and completed within 4 years. Preferred: Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field
Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation): Required: 4 years clinical experience Preferred: None
License, Registry or Certification: Required: New Jersey RN license AHA CPR certification Certified Diabetes Educator- After meeting 1000 hours of direct diabetes
education, must sit for the CDE exam by the NCBDE within 8 months of
completing the required time and hours Preferred: Membership in professional nursing organization. Certified Pump Trainer and CGMS certification
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities: Required: Knowledge of Diabetes self-management training, blood glucose meters. Insulin
pumps and CGM. Basic Computer Skills Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation Preferred: Computer: Excel, PowerPoint Experience with group presentation/public speaking
