Summary of Job Duties:The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer performs transthoracic, exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiograms on adult patients utilizing appropriate techniques (M-Mode, 2D, Doppler Color Flow, Spectral Doppler and bubble studies).
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma.Graduation from an accredited Medical Sonography Program.  Cardiac ultrasound experience, including treadmill and pharmacologic stress testing preferred.Prefer Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).  Must be registry eligible.  Must complete registration within one year of employment.Current CPR required

Sets up for and assists the physician or licensed provider with procedures and examinations. Sets up for, and assists with Transesophageal studies including patient monitoring and manipulation of ultrasound equipment controls.  Performs all required online and offline measurements, calculations and velocities of acquired images.Recognizes distinct types of cardiac diseases and pathology. Immediately reports critical findings to the reading cardiologist(s).Initiates IV access as needed, and according to UAMS policies and procedures.Utilizes and administers contrast (perflutren or bubble) according to UAMS policies and procedures and documents correctly as evidenced by quarterly performance improvement data.
