Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
Amergis
The Ultrasound Technician performs a variety of specializedtechnical tasks utilizing high frequency ultrasound waves to assist with thedetection of medical conditions or abnormalities by producing images of theinside of a patient’s body.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Performs a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizingultrasonic high-frequency sound waves to detect but not limited toabnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones
+ Assists physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsyinstruments using sonographic techniques
+ Utilizes accessory equipment such as transducers,multi-format cameras, printers, and PACS workstations
+ Prepares patients for procedures and explains procedures topatients
+ Reports changes in patient condition to medical staff
+ Provides an oral and written summary of preliminary findingsto the radiologist
+ Evaluates the quality of sonograms and determines ifadditional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated
+ Maintains patient records following facility policy andprocedure
+ Performs ultrasound procedures, doppler vascularexaminations, abdominal studies and colorflow ultrasound, OB-GYN procedures asrequired
+ Collaborates in quality control of equipment and filming andobtains service as required
+ Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures
+ Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
+ A certification from an accredited ultrasound school
+ One year of experience as an ultrasound technicianpreferred.
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
+ Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
+ Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
+ Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
+ Computer proficiency required
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
